“I believe curiosity and compassion are our greatest gifts for healing.”

Meet Katie

I believe curiosity and compassion are our greatest gifts for healing. I believe you have a unique set of resources within you, and my hope is to hold sacred space for you as you explore and move toward wholeness. I believe that when we are given safety and connection, we naturally gravitate to health. I work to support you in cultivating safety and connection within yourself, so that you are a source of healing and self-compassion for the many parts of you that make you the unique person you are.

I will utilize my supportive role as a counselor to help you increase insight and self-acceptance. You deserve to feel at home within yourself. I recognize the importance of collaboration, creativity, and embodiment in the counseling process, and I will allow you to set the pace of our sessions. You deserve to feel seen and supported in your journey toward healing. I am affirming and justice oriented, and all are welcome!

I chose the name “Wonder Counseling” for my practice because it reflects two powerful feelings I often have during my work with clients—curiosity and awe. My hope is that our work together will inspire you to feel wonder for who you are and for all of the ways you’ve adapted to get where you are today.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, parenting concerns, shame, insecurity, work stress, or life challenges, I can help you navigate the distress so that you have strategies to cope and hope for the future.

Katie’s Training

I was the Director of a group practice before I decided to open my own practice. I bring over a decade of counseling experience to my work with clients. I use an integrative, holistic approach to healing and growth. I have specialized training in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS level 2), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR level 1), and Somatic Experiencing (Beginning I) which allow me to engage in deeper levels of healing with my clients.

I am trained in play therapy, and although I no longer work with children, my background as a play therapist informs and supports my work with parents. I am trained in the Gottman Method and Prepare/Enrich for couples, and I often use the IFS model to support couples and parents in their efforts to connect with each other and with their children.

“I think this is how we’re supposed to be in the world—present and in awe.”
